Eirik Johansen Q&A

How did your passion for Land Rovers start?

As a very young boy I was lifted into the drivers seat of a Defender 90 placed in a showroom at a car event. There must have been a connection with the vehicle back then, because years later when it was time for me to get the license I came across a Defender on the sales page and there was love at first sight. Ever since, the Defender has had a special place in my heart.

What was the first Land Rover you owned?

My first Land Rover was a Java Black Defender 90 with a Td5 engine. It was built in 2001. I picked it up in the far South of Norway and drove it all the way up North to my homeplace. I loved every minute of it, and owning it has been a pleasure. It has given me mile after mile without trouble.

How many Land Rovers have you owned?

I have owned 2 Land Rovers. My first one, the 90, and my second one which is the one i own today. A 2006 Td5 110 DCPU.

Do your Land Rovers have a name? If so, what is the name?

They are simply called the 90 and the 110. But- when i go somewhere in my Landy, its never me. It is always ‘us’. My Landy is a friend and we have a special connection.

What is your most memorable Land Rover moment?

I’d say my the most memorable moment so far must be going for a long drive along a coastal road in a lovely summer night with 34 other Landys at one of the many LR club meets in Northern Norway.

What is your favourite accessory on your Land Rover and why?

Living in the far north, I have two accessories I am especially fond of. Those are my extra heater mounted under the rear seats, and my heated windscreen. During winter these are a must during long and short trips in freezing conditions.

Complete the sentence: My Land Rover has a Soul because...

It is special like any other LR. No Rover is the same. It has its own rattles and squeaks, its own upsides and downsides, and even though not all passengers wants to admit it, I am pretty sure it finds its way into their hearts, one way or another. :)
